AI-based Subtitling

The AI-based subtitling feature automatically generates subtitles and transcripts for videos. The function analyzes the audio track, detects the spoken language, and creates subtitles without any manual work. This makes video content more accessible and easier to consume, while saving time for content creators.

Features

  • The language is automatically detected from the audio.

  • Works for both regular videos and videos created using the video editor.

  • The video player supports subtitles and also provides a transcript (available via a separate button in the player).

  • When the feature is enabled for an instance, all historical videos will also be processed and subtitled.

  • The transcription runs on our own servers, meaning no external services are involved.

Limitations and Additional Information

  • Subtitling takes approximately three times as long as the video duration. For example, a 1-minute video will take (at least) 3 minutes to subtitle.

  • Once subtitles have been generated, it is not possible to remove them from the video. Disabling the feature will not disable already generated subtitles.

  • There is currently no way to edit the subtitles. If the transcription is not optimal (for example, incorrect brand names), it cannot be corrected at this time.
